Testify of Christ

Over the last weekend was the 181st annual General Conference of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  As is typical for any General Conference, the messages focused on our Savior Jesus Christ.  Every speaker related his or her topic to Christ and finished with a testimony of him, his divinity, his resurrection from the dead, or his sacrifice for us.  This fulfilled their special calling from God to act as a special witness of Jesus Christ, "...for the testimony of Jesus is the Spirit of prophecy." [Revelation 19:10]

I'm spending this morning reviewing my notes from the first session of conference shown above.  The first thing I'd like to do before I can read the transcript is search through my notes for some of the things that were taught about Jesus Christ, especially things that were new to me.

- L Tom Perry, Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.
  • "Christ is the only one to come to Earth with dual citizenship, Heaven and Earth"
  • The Savior should be the center of our lives like he is the center of the New Testament. (some of my posts on the New Testament)
- Jean A Stevens, Primary General Presidency
  • Children sometimes instinctively recognize pictures of the Savior and revere him
  • The Savior has a special love for children.
  • Jesus is the Christ, the one perfect Son.
- Walter F Gonzalez, Quorum of the Seventy
  • We must pattern our lives after the Savior.
  • We should follow Christ out of love.
  • Christ will always assist us
  • The way we treat others shows our love for Christ
  • Christ's sacrifice was a covenant
  • Covenants show willingness to follow Christ
  • Following Christ brings blessings of heaven
- Kent F Richards, Quorum of the Seventy
  • Christ suffered for all.
  • Christ blessed and healed many in his mortal life.
  • Christ invites us all to be healed spiritually.
  • Pain, sickness, and distress help us understand Christ like it helped him understand us.
  • Christ's grace is sufficient for all.
- Quentin L Cook, Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
  • Women have a unique role in bringing God's children to Christ
- Henry B Eyring, First Presidency
  • Seek out the poor like Christ did.
If you haven't had an chance to watch the LDS General Conference please do so.  I hope you'll find things that help you find greater faith in Jesus Christ.  These certainly aren't all the ones I've found.  I plan to post more tomorrow as I continue studying over the General Conference talks.
